A Truck Full

We were visiting Trevor's house and all the kids wanted to take a ride in the truck. No problem -- we put them all 4 in there. It was a truck full but they all had fun. Kind of scary with Maggie driving because she doesn't look or steer the wheel. She can ride a tricycle with no problem but you put her behind the wheel and for some reason she won't steer. Anyway they all had a great time together.

Horse Races

One Saturday while we were in Hot Springs my dad and I took Maggie to the live races. We have been to watch them warm up but never to the live races (that she remembers). We got there just in time to watch them saddle up and the jockeys get on. We let her choose a horse - she chose a gray one, Dad chose one --- a gray one and I said "oh well we should pick the other gray one and put it in a trifecta." My dad said "I have done that before but have never had all 3 gray horses come in." Well guess what happened --- Yep you got it --- all 3 came in and we would have won. Maggie really enjoyed being outside and watching them run by. We watched a couple of races and then we headed out. She had a great time. I'm so glad that we took her to see them. Thanks Dad for helping me make memories with Maggie!!!

Jelly Bean Thief

Turner likes to sit up on the counter in the mornings while I get his milk and make my coffee. One morning he realized that I had some jelly beans and some kisses in a bowl in the window seal. He thought I wouldn't notice as he is trying to unwrap a kiss and reaching into the jelly bean tray (Yes you can eat jelly beans and kisses with no teeth - you just have evidence left on the front of your shirt as you drool while eating a mouth full). He is too cute and thought he was such a big boy. I only had my phone camera available so the pictures are a little grainy.

The Shriner Circus

Sherry's sister had some BOGO tickets to the circus. We tried to get a few people to go with us but it just never worked out so I took Maggie and Turner to the circus. We went on a Saturday night. It was really fun and it all worked out great. I put Turner in the moby wrap and Maggie was on her best behavior. We went early so we could go on the floor and see all the animals and clowns. She was not a fan of clowns looking or talking to her. We didn't take a whole lot of pics because we kind of had our hands full. We only stayed through intermission which was still at 9:00. Turner goes to bed at 7:30 so we were pushing it. I brought our own snacks and juice so we didn't have to buy all that expensive junk. Maggie would ask for it and I would act like the man walking up and down the isles just didn't hear me. When we left she said "Mom the lady (the announcer) said not to leave that there was more to come" I don't remember what I said but whatever it was it worked. She listens pretty close to what you say and can and will repeat it back or question it. We had a great time just the 3 of us.

Easter Egg Painting

Jackson got to come over after school one day and so I thought it would be fun to paint and dye eggs. I thought it would be so great to have some that were blown out. It was sure a process doing it but at least they would last (I thought). So after school they went out on the back porch and painted eggs. I also boiled some so that they could dye them too. Turner was very determined that he was going to paint one also. So I helped and then we just let him play in the water. It was very cute watching them be so careful with their eggs. We had a great afternoon playing outside and decorating eggs.

New Orleans

We went to NOLA for a wedding last month. My good friend from high school was getting married and it was a trip that I didn't want to miss for sure. NOLA is a little bit different when you have two kids in tow but we had a great time and it was a great wedding. Mom and I left early in the morning thinking that the kids would sleep most of the way. Well I think Turner slept about 1 hour of the 7 hour trip and Maggie fell asleep 1 block away from the hotel. We couldn't check in so we walked around and had lunch, got balloon animals, looked at all the people dressed up in the street, shopped a little and then headed back to the hotel to rest. Check in wasn't until 4:00 pm so Mom and I were worn out to say the least. We found a place to sit and we waited about 1 1/2 hours before we got our room.

We hired a babysitter for that night so that we could go to the rehearsal dinner. It was great and the food was fabulous! We really had a great time and Maggie and Turner did good! I took the doors off the closet and put the baby bed in it. Turner normally sleeps in a dark room alone but this was the best we could do. On Saturday we had breakfast in bed! That was a fun little treat. We dressed and went for a carriage ride through the French Quarter. My kids loved it!! Maggie got to feed Red Bean (the horse) a carrot after the ride. We walked around and then we went back to the room and I visited with Allison while everyone rested. For lunch we went to a place on Bourbon and across the street they were cleaning off a roof top full of beads and throwing them in the street. We promptly went and picked up a hand full of beads. We walked and shopped and then went back to rest and get ready for the wedding.

The wedding was in the courtyard at our hotel. We went downstairs and enjoyed the beautiful ceremony. Maggie was very impressed. This was her first wedding. Mom had Turner at the back and even inside some because he kept talking. The reception was there also so we sat and ate some fabulous food. Maggie just kept waiting on the cake! Everything was so much fun. Maggie danced and danced and danced. At one point she was crying and when I asked her why she said "my legs hurt from dancing so much." After the reception there was a "Second Line Parade" through the streets of the French Quarter. All the guests parade around with a band and police escort. If you have never done this it is a production. Mom, Maggie and Turner got to ride in the carriage that brought up the rear.

All in all it was great weekend and wedding that I will not forget!

Maggie wanted her picture made with this guy in the street. He was getting her into position. It was the cutest thing ever. I didn't think that she would do it. She walked right out there and got into position and just smiled and thought that was so much fun!
