VBS - Sky

Our theme this year for Bible school was Sky --- all about trusting God!  It was an awesome message that was all the children enjoyed learning about.  When Jana was asking for volunteers I wanted to find something different to do this year.  I am always a crew leader but I wanted to do something different.  So I heard that my good friend Emma was doing music and so I said I would help her with that.  Everyone who knows me knows that music is not my specialty! We had a great time learning the music and moves to all the songs.  I have to say that this year was the most fun by far!  We had a great group of youth helping!  It was so uplifting!  We had close to 400 kids each night and lots of people helping.  It was so much fun for everyone!

I got to teach the 3's music each night!

This is after the first night.  They made goggles in craft.

4th of July Weekend

We had a great weekend for the 4th.  We basically stayed on the water the entire time we were there.  My kids are like fish when we are around the water.  Maggie and Turner really like to swim under the boat.  Aerial from The Little Mermaid swims around us sometimes --- it can be pretty interesting.  Turner got a little scared of Aerial this time and he kept asking where she was.  It is pretty cute.  Babe got us some new water guns so we had lots of water fights too.  Linda Lee and Lance drove up on Thursday so we got to spend some fun time with Lala and Lance.  Maggie really took to Lance this trip.  We really had a low key time in Hot Springs and it was so much fun!
 Ready to go!

We even did a little fishing.  We didn't catch anything this time but we had fun trying.

Babe and Poppy have a little pool on the deck that they stayed in whenever we were not in the lake.

The Mustang was in need of a car wash.
Looks like he is thinking of spraying something besides the Mustang.

Babe and Lala went out for a kayak ride. We are lucky they made it back.  The wind picked up after they got way out there.  Pretty sure they got a good arm workout.

Confined Inside

We have had a problem with hornets in our backyard this summer.  Their nest we thought was under our wood patio.  So there was no just knocking the nest down.  I would get cans of spray and stand at the door and spray them while Maggie and Turner pointed them out to me.  In the mornings we could have up to 30 hornets swarming at our back patio door.  I took these pics one day while they were mating on my back door.  Maggie said "Mom why are they stuck together like that?" So one Saturday while Marcelo was here to play I asked him to help me figure this out.  He started taking boards off the patio and we only found lots of holes.  He got out his truck jack and lifted up the porch.  No nests were found only holes.  So we did a little research and found they are digger hornets and they live underground.  So again I was at a loss for how to kill them while they live under ground under the porch.  Luckily they are not aggressive (not that I am going to chance it with little kids), they are low key in the afternoon and night and their season is until August.  We are still spraying what we see and they are slowly going away.  We were able to play outside the other afternoon and have no problems.  My kids are still very leery about going out there.  Hopefully we won't be confined too much longer and thankfully we haven't wanted to play outside much since it is 100 degrees.

Blueberry Hill Farm 2012

We took our annual trip to Blueberry Hill Farm a couple of  weekends ago.  Sherry picked us up bright and early and we were off!  We got there about 8:30 so we could beat the heat.  Everyone got their basket and off we went.  Turner would pick and then eat them all so he was no help filling our bucket.  He was happy so I didn't care what he was doing.  Maggie was picking a few and then trying to get the sand off her feet.  She was not a fan of sand in her shoes (red sparkle shoes).  I picked and picked and picked.  At one point Turner was sitting in the stroller eating blueberries and said "Keep picking Mom".  I just looked at him and he had a big grin on his face.  He was so funny.  Maggie said "Mom why are you crying?" I said "Maggie that is sweat running down my face, not tears".  We picked for about 2 hours and then called it quits.  It was just so hot!! We headed inside for some Blueberry Ice Cream!  It is so yummy.  We played outside for a little longer before we paid for our berries and a pie.  Sherry suggested we stop in Canton for a little shopping --- yea no thanks.  We were out numbered by kids, it was hot and I was tired.  So we came home for lunch and naps.  Another great year picking blueberries.
