We made our annual trip to Covington for our family reunion at the beginning of October. We also spent some time seeing other people and the Turner side of the family. Linda Lee joined us this year also. We had a great time and stayed very busy seeing everyone.
We got to see Helen --- my Babe's best friend. She made me dresses that Maggie still wears today. She is a very special lady. I am so glad we got to see her. The kids and I played outside most of the time because she has lots of pretties and its hard not to touch everything.
The kids and I walked down the street while LL and Babe were visiting with Shirley and Bobby. I took the kids to see where my Babe lived. I love this picture.
We headed out to see Gordon and Judy. They were not home but we couldn't leave without seeing all of their horses. My kids are both animal lovers and they were in heaven. Maggie was not scared at all to touch the horse -- he trains and breaks them in. So they are not the real friendly kind. We walked around and saw all the horses and watched them dance -- yea some were bucking but we call it dancing. That was so much fun! We came back later and they were home so we got to visit with them a little.
Next we drove down the lane and saw Babe and LL's old house -- it was a disgrace so we didn't take a picture. But we did stop and pick cotton across the street. That used to be one of my favorite things to do in TN was to pick cotton. This was Turner's first time.
LL was going to make a pillow with all that cotton.
Next we went to see Ted and Carolyn. They also have lots to see and do at their house. So we talked as long as we could before the kids had to get outside and see everything. First stop -- the new 1 week old puppies. They were so cute! Next -- the birds. We looked at them and talked about the colors and which ones were boys and girls. Finally to see the sheep. Ted said they probably wouldn't let you touch them. Well leave it to the animal loving kids to get the sheep to the fence for a rub down. We had a great time visiting and thanks for showing us all of your animals.
We stopped by Roy Clay's house and his daughter Betsy was there too. He has a great play room with lots of toys and books so the kids were just fine playing while we visited. It was great to see both of you!
Finally we headed to Carl's house. He lives on a farm with cows. Mom and I took the kids outside to look at the cows while Ll and Carl talked inside. My little city girl had lots of questions about what the cows eat was wondering why they wouldn't come to the fence. So Babe said "Go ask Carl what they eat." She pranced right up there and said "What do the cows eat?" He said "Grass and grains" She said "Well I have been picking grass and trying to feed them" He said "Well lets go feed them some grains" So she grabbed his hand and off we went to the pasture to feed the cows. She was not scared at ALL. She was right there beside him the whole time and was smiling from ear to ear. She then said "Now I want to pet them" Carl said "Well I don't know that I can help you out there". We had such a great time and I'm so glad my little city kids got to see so many animals on our visits with all the Turners.
