Turner's Firsts

Turner had to go to the doctor on Monday after we got home from the hospital. When we left the hospital he weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and his jaundice level was 4.4 and when we got to the doctor his weight was 7 lbs 6 oz and his jaundice level was 11. He was slowly turning orange. We had overcast days so there was no sunlight to put him in either. He did great at the doctor. Maggie was told when we went in there that there was nothing to worry about because the doctor only wanted to check Turner and not her. After we got there I found out that they had gotten in the second round of the H1N1 shot that she needed. So she had to get a shot and was not a happy camper. On Wednesday when we had to go back for another recheck she didn't want to go out of the waiting room. I can't really blame her. His weight was back to 7lbs 9 oz and his jaundice level was up to 15.8. We went through the same thing with Maggie and she had to be put on a light for 2 days. I was really hoping that was not going to be the case with him. The doctor told us that since it was day 5 it should peak and begin to drop. We tried to catch any sunlight possible and get him in it.

Another first for Turner was to go and see Santa Claus. I know people are cringing because he was only 4 days old but it is tradition and I couldn't pass up the chance to get this done. I knew I would always regret it if I didn't just do it. I called a friend who works at the mall and she got us a number and also a VIP pass for a free picture. So we loaded up the kids and off we went. The lady helping Santa said he was the youngest they had had this year. The next youngest was 7 days so I was not the only crazy mom around. He did great and so did Maggie. We took advantage of being at the mall and did a little shopping while we were there.

Mimi came over to see both of the kids. She just fell in love with Turner. I knew she would. She can't wait for me to bring them to stay for the day. Another friend came over to see him and bring me some things that she had that I was borrowing. She brought me a Moby (long piece of fabric to carry him in). He loves it --- he would stay in it all day long if I would let him. As we speak I have him wrapped up and tied to my chest. It is so nice to be able to hold him and have 2 free hands. Thanks Emma --- it is great.

He had his first bath before we left to go to Hope for Christmas. He was not a real fan of the water. You can see from the pics that he didn't enjoy it as much as his sister does. I am sure its not real fun to get held over the water and washed on. I am glad that he can now get into the water.

1st day at Home

We got home Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m. Maggie was waiting outside for us when we pulled up. She had written Welcome Home Turner on the sidewalk with chalk. When we came in she immediately wanted to hold him. She loves to hold her baby brother. We sat and talked for a short time and then Poppy left to go home to Arkansas. We all laid down to take a nap and rest. Some of us got a little rest. Mom decided to take Maggie to see the Princess and the Frog that night so that we could all adjust a little to being home. She was asleep before they got there but after getting some popcorn and a coke she was ready. Mom said she watched it for about 1 1/2 hours and then got restless and wanted to play on the stairs so they missed the very end. Turner and I just rested at the house and Marcelo did some things around the house and returned some things to a friend. Mom kept Turner in the living room with her so that I could get some sleep in between feedings. He was not real content all night long so it was a long night for Babe. I took over around 4 for her so she could get some sleep. We tried to keep him as quiet as possible so that Maggie wouldn't wake up. I am so glad to have that little boy at home with me.

Hospital Stay

We started the 2nd day of life off with a hearing test. He passed with flying colors. Debbie and Mike Malek were in town and they stopped by to visit us and see Turner. Meanwhile Trevor and Jodi were back at the hotel dealing with a crisis. Their car got broken into in the night. What a frustrating way to start the day. We had our special lunch that day and so they brought us steak and lobster on a nice round table with a white table cloth and a rose. It was very sweet. Turner was just a great baby all day long. He loves to be held and I love to just hold him all the time. Trevor, Jodi Darby and Jorgia came by after shopping all day. We all sat around and talked and watched the two girls play in a closet in the room. It was about the only thing for them to do while they were there. They had worn out all the toys that we had brought for them. We got to go home on Sunday around noon. The outfit that I had packed for Turner to wear home was way too big for his little body so luckily we put in one more little gown that he had just in case. So that is what he got to wear home. Trevor stopped by on their way out of town for one last visit. We were so glad they made the trip to be there when Turner was born. It really means a lot. Mom and Dad had Maggie at home and decided not to drive 45 min just to see us off from the hospital. They were at home to greet us when we arrived.Getting his hearing test done.

William Turner Lucero

Friday December 18th we went to the hospital to have William Turner Lucero. We went in at 7 a.m. to be induced and I was already dilated to a 3 so I thought oh man this could go fast. I was in labor for 26 hours with Maggie so I was very excited to hear this news. They got the pitocin going and at about 12:00 they came to check me again and I was only a 4. I was getting disappointed and thinking this is not looking as good as I thought. Maggie was not wanting to come near her mommy because she saw the iv and thought mommy was hurt. All she kept saying all day is "mommy hurt, mommy hurt". Trevor and Jodi got there with Darby and Jorgia and I was still not very far along. After a while around 6 they decided to go to the hotel and rest and just wait until I called them. They checked me again and I was a 7. Mom called and asked if she should come but I said "no ". I text her back about 10 min later and told her to come right away because I was ready. They all packed up and were there in about 10 min. He was born about 30 min after that. He was born at 7:38 p.m. He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19 3/4 in long. He was just perfect!!!!! These are pics from his birthday.Before I left for the hospital.
