Fossil Rim Fun

Fathers Day weekend my parents were in town and we needed something fun to do.  I suggested that I really wanted to go out to Fossil Rim again sometime soon.  I love going out there and feeding the animals.  It always brings back memories of when I was little and we would go to these places.  So we loaded up after Maggie's swimming lesson and headed out to Glen Rose.  I'm not sure that they realized it was 1 1/2 hours away and in the middle of nowhere.  I have never laughed so hard in all my life (well maybe once) at my mom and the little comments she had about where we were going in the middle of Texas.  We stopped at Dairy Queen in Glen Rose and by the looks of the people there it confirmed we were not in the Metroplex anymore. Maggie had to use the bathroom at the DQ really really bad and someone was in there and taking a really long time.  Babe asked Maggie what she thought they could be doing in there.  Maggie said "Maybe they are dying in there because doesn't that take a really long time Babe."  We all laughed really hard about that.  We never saw the person come out so not real sure what happened.  Poppy finally took her to the men's bathroom (we all know how dirty those can be). After our 3 hour ride through the park and all the laughs and smiles it was well worth the drive.  We had a blast!  I am so glad that we went together --- great quality family time in the car all day long!

This little guy gave us lots of laughs.  I have video on my phone that my kids have played over and over and over of us all laughing and screaming when he came into the car to get food.  Then Poppy put the bag of food real close to me and he came in and got the entire bag.  I'm pretty sure we held up the line of cars playing with this Ostrich.

 Up close and personal
Maggie was not scared to touch any of the animals.
Pretty sure that big ole tongue licked Turner and left a lot of slobber on his hand.  I kept putting food close to Poppy's head while he was not looking so that the animal would lick him.
Had to brush out those rats in his hair.

This was the half way point and the overlook is very pretty.  Perfect place for a family picture.
3 of the 4 are looking at the camera.  Thats not too bad.
The giraffes were not interested in our bag of generic food.  I wonder why?
But the Zebra had no problem eating it.
Poppy and I were playing and trying to get our pictures made with these animals.
