Maggie at 3 years old

Maggie Elizabeth I can't believe that 3 years has past and you are growing up to be such a beautiful young lady right before my eyes. You are a very special little girl with a big heart and also becoming more and more independent.

We went for your 3 year check up which you were not in the least bit excited about. I am pretty sure that I tried to bribe you with a little bit of everything. You weighed 31.8 lbs and were in the 66% for weight and were 38 1/4 in tall and in the 75% for height. They took your blood pressure for the first time ever and you did great. You just sat there and watched. Your blood pressure was great it was 84/56. We had been playing with your new doctor kit that you got for your birthday and so maybe that helped calm your nerves on that one. You didn't have to get any shots and I was so thankful for that. They did have to do a finger stick to check your iron and that was a major deal. I am sure the people outside the door or even next to us thought they were cutting your finger off. You refused the band aid too. You have never really liked band aids though. I think you just like to to look at your boo boo.

You are not a real good eater Maggie. Your favorite food right now is chocolate or candy. That is what you ask for morning, noon and night. Another favorite is pancakes with syrup. You will eat them every meal if I would let you. We do have to compromise sometimes and if you have them for dinner then you can't have them for breakfast. You usually forget about that the next morning and we have to throw a small fit. Another favorite for breakfast is square cereal (frosted shredded wheat), vanilla yogurt in the box or a stick of yogurt (gogurt). Now that you have gotten over your allergy to peanut butter you eat a sandwich every day for lunch at school. I try to cut it in different shapes to keep it interesting. Apples, bananas, and grapes are a few favorite fruits. As for veggies --- you are not a fan. Lately we have had to sit at the table a little longer just so we try them. You will usually say "Oh that's good" and I will say "eat some more" and you will reply "I don't want any more". Its almost like you are just trying to be nice and tell me that its good but you really don't like it. Its OK I understand.

Sleeping is another issue that we go head to head on Miss Maggie. You are not a good sleeper at all. You sleep with me -- I don't usually mind. Lately I have gotten a foot in my head and you talk in your sleep quite a bit. You toss and turn all night long. You also are like your mom and like to watch TV in the middle of the night when you can't go back to sleep. I know I created that habit. You are not much of a napper. You will lay down with me so I can nap and you will usually watch TV. Not a problem because you have learned that I really like to nap so you just lay there and don't talk. Thanks for that. At school you are the first to go to sleep at nap time. I just don't get it. What is so different about school? You told me this morning that it was time to get us. You said "I looked outside and the sun it out. Its time to get up mom." You normally go to bed around 9 or when I go to bed and get up about 7 ish. You are not very pleasant most morning when you first wake up. You defiantly need your time to wake up.

You still allow me to dress you how I want with no issues normally. I really like that a lot. I am pretty picky. I will give you choices but it is always two choices that I like. The only issue we normally have is on shoes. So people have given you hand me down sparkle shoes and you insist on wearing them a lot. We only wear them around the house. They are even too small and you still want to wear them. I have had to hide them so we don't have to argue about that issue. Last night you wanted to sleep in your Sunday Easter shoes! I insisted you take them off if you were sleeping with me because I could already see me getting kicked in the head with them. You normally let me fix your hair how I want. Lately you have wanted to wear it down a lot. But you are pretty good with your hair and bows. You always want to put on your jewelry. You have lots of it and you know how to match it pretty good. I love that about you!!!

Last night you wrote your name for the first time for me. We were in the tub with markers and you did a great job. I was so proud and you were too. Turner even gave you a little clap for it. You know all your shapes, colors and your numbers up to about 14. Sometimes the high numbers get a little mixed up. You have almost got your ABC's down. You can recognize your name if it is written down. You recognize lots of letters and can tell me whose name starts with what letter. You really make me proud. You have a little game system that you play a lot and I think it has really helped you with letters. You are a great puzzle girl. You can put together just about any puzzle and you really sit and concentrate on it. You love to play games. You asked me the other day to draw you a hopscotch outside. I didn't even know you knew what that was. You also like to play hide and seek.

You and Turner are really sweet together. He loves you to death and you love him most of the time. You are pretty rough on him and he just takes it --- one day that may come back to haunt you. He came at you the other day after you pushed him with his mouth (he has no teeth) wide open. Maybe it was a kiss or maybe something else. You were a little taken aback by that. He loves to annoy you and knows how to do it. We will be in the car and he will say "uh" and you will yell "Stop talking to me" and he will look at you and go "uh". He knows how to do it. You do play together pretty well. You like to take him in your room and play with him or sometimes out in the sunroom (you cut his hair out there the other day).

You are really learning about Christ and becoming the little Christian that I want you to be. You and Babe had a conversation the other day and it went like this:

Babe: "Wave to Ms. Moses" (an older lady leaving out of her driveway)
Maggie: "Is that my mommy's Babe"
Babe: "No Maggie she died and went to heaven"
Maggie: "Well did she go up on the cross"
Babe: "No Maggie that was just Jesus"

I just thought it was too funny. Also we were talking about Christmas and Santa and you told me that Christmas was Jesus Birthday. Now you keep telling me "Next is your birthday and then its Turners birthday and then Jesus Birthday". You got it girl and it makes me smile from ear to ear. Also when it is time to say the prayer you will bow your head and fold your hands together.

Thanks Maggie for being the sweet loving little girl that you are. You make me so proud!!! I love you with all of my heart and I will always be here for you. You are very special!!! I love you so much!!! Mommy
